We can create Custom Stub handplanes using a range of colourful and striking hardwoods. We like to experiment and create unique patterns. When you check out we then give you a chance to describe what type of wood or design you would like (based on something you have seen on our website/Instagram) or to get in contact with us and create something new. We will then be in touch to discuss the design based on what we think will work and what hardwoods we have in stock. As with all of our handplanes we can also offer personalisation to your Custom Stub (see below).

The Stub handplane is our shortest board, designed for a range of conditions and especially suited to steep, powerful waves. 

It is quick, manoeuvrable and light on the hand with its wooden build providing sufficient buoyancy. Its single concave and turndown rails provide all the lift and hold on wave required. 

With a subtle rocker in the nose and smooth rails it provides a clean ride.

The superb water proofing properties of natural tung oil are used to seal each board before it hits the water. All boards come with a hand sewn adjustable strap, attached using our subtle and secure design - unique to Compass Handplanes
